How to play tic tac toe online
- Choose vs Computer, Pass & play or Online with a friend, and a 3 × 3 or 4 × 4 board.
- Tap a square to place your mark. Three in a row wins on 3 × 3; four in a row on 4 × 4.
- Press Play again for the next game. The starting player swaps and the score keeps count.

Frequently asked questions
Can I beat the unbeatable computer?
No. On 3 × 3 it looks at every possible game before it moves, so the best you can get is a draw. Easy makes random moves and Medium blocks your wins but slips up now and then.
How do I play tic tac toe with a friend online?
Choose Online with a friend and press Create game. Send your friend the 6-character code or let them scan the QR code; the game starts when they join. The two devices connect directly and the score carries on game after game. If someone reloads the page, they can join again with the same code.
What is the 4 × 4 version?
A bigger board where you need four in a row across, down or diagonally. It is harder to spot threats, so games last longer. The computer’s top level on 4 × 4 is called Hard.
Who starts each game?
X starts the first game, then the starting player swaps every game so nobody keeps the first-move advantage.
