Frequently asked questions
Does it remember where I stopped?
Yes. The chapter and scroll position are saved in this browser for each book, so opening the same file again takes you back to where you were.
Can it open Kindle or DRM-protected books?
No. Books locked with DRM (Adobe, Kobo, Kindle) are encrypted and can’t be read here. DRM-free EPUBs from Project Gutenberg, Standard Ebooks and many publishers work.
Are EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 both supported?
Yes. The table of contents is read from the EPUB 3 navigation document or the older EPUB 2 NCX file.
Is it safe to open an unknown EPUB?
Chapters are shown in a sandboxed frame with scripts turned off, so code inside a book can’t run.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Files are read and processed by your browser on your own device, so there is no upload wait and nothing leaves your computer or phone.
