Frequently asked questions

What are the rules of 2048?

Each move slides all tiles as far as they go in one direction. Two touching tiles with the same number merge into their sum, and each tile can merge only once per move. After every move a new 2 (sometimes a 4) appears. The game ends when no move is possible.

Can I undo a move?

You can undo your last move once. After the next move the undo is available again.

What happens after I reach 2048?

You get a win message and can choose to keep going for 4096 and beyond, or start a new game.

Any tips for a high score?

Keep your biggest tile in one corner and build a chain of falling values along the edge next to it. Avoid the move that pulls the big tile out of its corner.
