How to play Snake

  1. Choose a speed and whether the walls stop you or you wrap around.
  2. Steer with the arrow keys, WASD, a swipe or the D-pad.
  3. Eat food to grow and score. Press Space or P to pause.

Frequently asked questions

How do I control the snake on a phone?

Swipe on the board in the direction you want to go, or use the on-screen arrow pad below it. On a computer use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D.

What is wrap-around mode?

With wrap-around the snake leaves one side of the board and comes back on the opposite side, so only biting yourself ends the game. With walls, touching the edge ends it too.

Does the game get faster?

Each speed level starts at its own pace and gets a little faster as the snake grows. High scores are kept separately for every speed and wall setting.

Can I pause and come back later?

Yes. Press Space, P or the pause button. The game also pauses when you switch tabs, and a paused game is saved so you can resume it on your next visit.
