Frequently asked questions

How long can the video be?

Up to 3 minutes at a time. For a longer video, choose the part you want with the From and To times. Reversing means decoding every frame and encoding it again, which takes a lot of work in a browser.

What happens to the sound?

Choose Reverse to play the sound backwards with the picture, Keep as is to keep the original sound playing forwards, or Remove for a silent video. With Boomerang, the sound plays forwards first and then follows your choice.

Why did I get a WebM file instead of MP4?

MP4 needs an H.264 encoder in the browser. Some browsers, such as Chromium on Linux, don’t have one, so the video is saved as WebM (VP9) instead. It plays in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, VLC and on Android.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is decoded and encoded by your browser’s built-in WebCodecs, so it stays on your device. Speed depends on your phone or computer.
