Guitar Tuner
Pluck a string and the needle shows whether it is flat or sharp. The tuner picks the string for you and works with guitar, bass, ukulele and violin.
The sound from your microphone is analysed on your device and never recorded or sent anywhere. Pluck one string firmly and let it ring; a quiet room gives the steadiest reading.

- Choose your instrument and tuning, then press Start tuner and allow the microphone.
- Pluck one string and let it ring. The tuner finds the nearest string.

Frequently asked questions
How accurate is it?
On a clear, steady note the reading is accurate to about one cent (a hundredth of a semitone), far finer than the ear can hear. The note turns green within 3 cents of the target.
Which tunings are included?
Guitar standard (E A D G B E), drop D, half step down, open G, ukulele (G C E A), 4-string bass (E A D G) and violin (G D A E).
What is the A4 setting?
The reference pitch everything is tuned to. Most music uses A4 = 440 Hz. Change it between 432 and 446 Hz to match a piano, a recording or a band that tunes slightly differently.
Is my microphone recorded?
No. The sound is analysed in your browser a few times a second and thrown away. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.
Why does the needle jump around?
Pluck one string at a time, a little firmly, and let it ring. Background noise, touching other strings and very old strings make the reading less steady. A phone close to the guitar works best.
