Frequently asked questions
Which languages are supported?
English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia and Urdu. Select all languages that appear in the image for the best result.
Can it read handwriting?
Only very neat handwriting. OCR works best on printed text with good light, sharp focus and the page photographed straight on.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The OCR engine (Tesseract) runs in your browser. Language data is downloaded once (1–3 MB per language) and cached.
How can I improve accuracy?
Crop to just the text, avoid shadows and blur, and keep the text horizontal. Screenshots are usually read almost perfectly.
