Frequently asked questions

What is EXIF data?

EXIF is information that cameras and phones store inside a photo: make and model, date and time, exposure settings, orientation and sometimes GPS coordinates.

Do WhatsApp and Instagram remove location data?

Most social apps strip EXIF when you upload, but files sent as documents, by email or via cloud links usually keep it. Remove it yourself to be safe.

How is metadata removed?

The image is redrawn and saved again without any metadata blocks, so the picture looks the same but the hidden data is gone.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The image is processed by your own browser. It never leaves your phone or computer, so it is safe for ID photos and personal pictures.
