Frequently asked questions

Why does it use the print window?

Your browser’s own print engine lays out HTML and CSS far better than any converter that runs on a web page. It keeps text selectable and searchable, keeps links, and shapes Telugu, Hindi and other scripts correctly. The page size and margins you choose here are already set in the print window.

Why can’t it load some web addresses?

Most websites don’t allow other sites to read their pages (a browser rule called CORS), and DeskTray has no server to fetch them for you. Open the page yourself and save it with Ctrl+S, then open that file here, or print the page directly with Ctrl+P.

Why is my page blank or missing content?

JavaScript is not run in the preview, to keep you safe. Pages that build their content with scripts may look empty. Images and styles in separate files next to a saved page can’t be loaded either; images with full web addresses work.

How do I save the PDF on a phone?

On Android, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer and tap the download button. On iPhone, tap the share icon in the print options and choose Save to Files.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens inside your browser, so bank statements, ID proofs, contracts and forms stay on your device.
