Frequently asked questions

Can I still select the text afterwards?

No. Each page is turned into a picture to remove the colour, so text can’t be selected or searched. Run the result through OCR PDF to make it searchable again.

Will the file get smaller?

Scanned and photo-heavy PDFs usually shrink, and black and white makes them very small. PDFs with mostly typed text can grow, because text becomes an image. Use a lower quality or black and white if size matters.

Which should I choose, grayscale or black and white?

Grayscale keeps shades, so photos and stamps look natural. Black and white has only pure black and white, which gives the smallest files and the crispest text for typed documents and scans. Move the threshold if light text disappears.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens inside your browser, so bank statements, ID proofs, contracts and forms stay on your device.
