Frequently asked questions

Can it compare scanned PDFs?

Scanned PDFs have no text layer, so use Visual changes, which compares the page images. To compare the words, run both files through OCR PDF first.

Why does a whole page show as changed after one line was added?

Pages are compared by page number. If added text pushes content onto the next page, the following pages change too. The word list still shows exactly which words moved.

What does the difference overlay show?

A faded copy of the original page with changed pixels in colour: green where something appears only in the changed PDF, red where something was removed or moved.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens inside your browser, so bank statements, ID proofs, contracts and forms stay on your device.
