How to make a UPI payment QR code

  1. Enter your UPI ID (VPA), such as yourname@oksbi or 9876543210@ybl.
  2. Enter the payee name shown to customers.
  3. Optionally add an amount and a note, such as an invoice number.
  4. Download the QR, add a caption like “Scan & pay”, and test it with your own UPI app before printing.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to share a UPI QR code?

Yes. A UPI QR code only contains your UPI ID and name, which people need to pay you. It cannot be used to take money from your account. Never scan a QR code to “receive” money; receiving never needs a PIN.

Will payments come to my bank account?

Yes. The QR simply opens the payer’s UPI app with your UPI ID filled in. The money goes directly to the bank account linked to that UPI ID.

Can I set a fixed amount?

Yes. Enter the amount and the payer’s app will show it pre-filled. Leave it empty for a general-purpose shop QR code.

Is this the same as a merchant QR from my bank?

It uses the same UPI format. Bank or PSP merchant QR codes add features like instant notifications and settlement reports, but a personal UPI QR works for receiving payments.
